In 1996 Manchester was bombed by IRA.
In the same year, but before that, the British army also attacked Belfast.
There are basically two differences:
1) Manchester city centre was destroyed, but having none injured or killed people. And the "event" was spotted on the headlines.
2) Belfast city wasn't properly attacked. However a taxi driver, a Catholic pregnant woman and her two small children were victims of a placed bomb in the taxi they were, taking all of them to death. There was not even a line mentioned or registered on the news about that...

It just happens to me to know it because I was there!!!
At that time I clearly understood how manipulative the press could be. Of course, the news about what happened in Manchester spread all over till Brazil. IRA ,the terrorists, bombed Manchester. Hopefully there was no injured or dead people. Though they did not mention IRA's goal was to cause exactly what they did - destroying the city centre (but not people, otherwise they wouldn't have warned the government to evacuate the area two hours before) which had been the stage of moving the economy somehow. At the time of the explosion England was playing host to the Euro 96 football championships. So guess how much did not they get from that??? And lost???

Two hundred and twelve people were injured, but there were no fatalities.
This is no true!!!! There was no injured!!!!!
